An exciting update! The group’s order was picked up from the vendor and is now on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Given the tracking information provided, our warehouse team expects the shipment to come in by 9/4 and will be ready to get the order repacked and off to you as soon as it comes in.

Tax kills it for me unfortunately, can get it elsewhere for less without tax. Less of a wait too which is nice. Looks like a great knife though, think I am going to pick one up.
Knife uses screws, not rivets. Full disassembly is possible, and I imagine that a good polish on the brass pivot bushings would improve action even beyond factory. Action was a little tight from the factory, but a 1/16th of a turn on that screw seems to have smoothed it out quite a bit, with no play.
The Blur is a fine knife, and if of a good blade steel, I don't see why you would NEED to upgrade if you really like the blur. I prefer the edge profile on the Native. Thats just me. I had a blur at one point, and liked it, but lost it somewhere. ZT knives, IMO, are pumping their price a bit on name. Same with every other manufacturer, but they just don't feel like they deserve to command the price that they do. Just my opinion on it. Nice knives though if you can find a deal.
Bsmith, all the crap talk on this thread is exactly why I said what I did. Your statement is COMPLETELY fair and needs to be known, but it has absolutely nothing to do with this knife or drop specifically.
ok..I'm needing some help here. I've been stuck on the Kershaw blur to give you an idea of what I look for in a knife. I don't currently own any spyderco but I've been strongly considering it. Currently its between a Brous brothers Bionic, this knife and a 150 range ZT. Please help something other than opinions would be great even suggestions 150-200 range thanks everyone.

I used to use tuff glide for both coating the blade and lubing the pivot/locks, but this days I use nano oil for the latter. I still coat all my blades with tuff glide though. Both are excellent products.
Oh and 10 weight is the de facto choice for knives and guns, but I've also used 5w without issues. Get the three pack if it's still available.
I'm sorry, if a knife is delivered with faults like blade play, then it should have the capability to be returned, these aren't $20 mall bought knives. There shouldn't be a problem returning a knife with that kind of problem. Also I've never heard of a problem with Brous blades, he's a well known knife maker who has always made quality knives. Are we talking a collaboration knife or one of his actual knives?
I did a little reading on S35VN and ran across a few discussions from 2011-12 about how the steel blunted and flattened easily in a rope cutting test. This was when S35VN was relatively new. So there was some controversy about the steel, and speculation that companies weren't heat treating the steel to a high enough hardness.
Some folks speculated that in time, knife makers would hammer out the problems,dial in the heat treat, and make S35VN work.
That was three years ago. Does anyone know if these concerns have been put to bed?
To be fair, I read that the Native 5 tested well, even back then.

You're probably referring to the testing done by youtuber jdavis882 back in 2011 (a retest of the original test he did). According to Zknives, CPM S35VN was developed in 2009 as an evolution of CPM S30V.
As a general practice, Spyderco (for some reason or other) does not publish Rockwell Hardness (HRC) results for their knives. Still, I own several Spyderco models (Manix 2 XL-S30V, Endura, Delica-both VG-10) and their heat treatment is really good and pretty consistent.
In S35VN steel I own a Zero Tolerance 0550, a Reate Horizon B and a Kizer (model is a number), and in all of them the steel has performed great. In practice, it holds an edge just as well or just a bit worse than S30V, but not by much. The good thing about S35VN though, is that it is somewhat easier to sharpen than S30V.
So, if you are concerned about edge retention, Spyderco does know how to heat-treat their blades. Buy with confidence... : )
This is the knife I carry everyday. The plastic Native 5 at work. I like it so much I got one more! Size fit and finish is perfect. I paid a lot more for mine! Massdrop dose good work!

No guarantee, but it should be screws, not rivets on this model AFAIK.
Bsmith's concerns are entirely reasonable. Thank you for brining this up for some of the members who might not be aware.
This knife, the Spyderco G-10 Native 5, on Massfrop is currently running about 15-30$ off the retail pricing seen elsewhere. Not 50% firesales as others have tried to equate (I notice that we typically see anywhere from 10-40% off retail on most items on the site). And while Spyderco's 'from the factory' quality is very top notch and among the best, I have picked up some duds from them over the years. Slight manufacturers defects, such as: non-centered blades, rough/gritty actions, slight scale/blade damage, etc. I've also experienced similar defects on two items purchased through Massdrop as well. It is quite disappointing when it does happen to you, but this, unfortunately, is some of the risk that you must take on when purchasing through a revolutionary group buy site such as this.
Personally, I feel that it would be nice to see these policies change in the future as Massdrop continues to grow. Perhaps, coming to an agreement with certain manufactures where if a defect or quality issue is found by the customer, they will work it out - exchange/swap/refund. With how frequently certain manufacturers are carrried by Masssdrop, one would think they would jump all over customer service like this. But in its current state, this is nothing more than a dream of exceptional customer service. As with almost everything in life, caveat emptor.

I equated buying through Massdrop to a 50% sale because that's around the max I've gotten off on a drop. Regardless, the same applies on any discount level. Go to any store and buy retail; as long as you return the product in the same condition as bought they will accept it back. Now buy the product at a discount (50%, 10%, 3.14% - doesn't matter) it will most if not all the time be a final sale. You can't return it just because, but you can and should if the product is defective.
Regardless of purchase discount or lack thereof, if a product is defective stores are requiered to take it back for an exchange, repair, or money back. Of course, said product will be tested before any action is taken. Guess who also does this? Amazon, the king of customer service.
If you got a knife with a defect you should have contacted Massdrop for a refund or exchange. They buy a number of extras on a drop to fullfil exactly these kind of cases. Thier policy is that they don't accept returns, but do accept "warranty claims". If they can't honor a defective return because they ran out of stock they will either help you out with the manufacturer's warranty, refund, or in my case, sourcing a replacement from the provider (althought it took a bit more than expected) for me at no cost.
@Bsmith said that he didn't approve of Massdrop not accepting a product back just because, not because it was deffective. I can surely respect his opinion, and actually agree that you should be absolutely certain you want the product in question. That being said it is entirely unreasonable to expect massdrop to accept returns that are not deffective. They are not a retail store and can't just return an item thats not deffective either.
