I'm insanely happy with mine...handle is extremely comfy and the blade had kept it's wicked edge. Exceptionally light too.

FriggaDi had the joy of trying this out a few weeks ago (thanks FriggaD!) and just wow!! as he says the handle is about the best thing ever in terms of comfort (i have XL hands). no matter how you hold it in either hand it just fits perfect and your hand wont get sore. i carved for about 2 hours non stop with it in 40 degree wet/raining weather and the only thing that was sore was my off hand holding what i was carving. the carbon fiber is smooth but grips great, and its initially cool to the touch but after a few seconds of use it warms up and stays warm to the touch. i was worried that in the cold it would freeze my hand like some G10 or metal handles do, but it was actually quite pleasant to use for an extended period. the blade shape works great for carving and it bites really deep, it almost cuts too well. it takes a few minutes to get used to the cutting performance, im used to moras and this thing cuts way deeper. the steel hold an edge very well too! as i said i cut for around 2 hours and it was still like a razorblade, i cut a mix of white oak, cedar and elm. i did not baton this as it is not that type of knife (also not mine). it is a agile cutting machine for long term use. the incredibly comfortable handle and insane edge retention makes this thing a serious workhorse. the tip is very precise and probably somewhat fragile. its not a pry bar so dont use it like one, its a slicing machine. the sheath is ok, not my favorite but you can always buy a kydex or something else later on. i like to use my blades for bushcraft and im a fan of the FFGs, if i had the funds i would buy this in a second, but i dont so i may have to save up for a few weeks and get it next time.

I broke down and purchased this knife on the last drop. Glad to see it's back again.
I haven't had a chance to use it in the field, but this is a sweet knife. Fantastic build quality, feels awesome in the hand, blade is razor sharp S90V.
If this looks remotely interesting to you, jump on it. You won't be disappointed.

This package arrived with postage due of $4.40.
The post office told me that postage was paid for 1 pound, but the package weighted more than that.
Anyone else have a similar issue?

It's a go! The order for the Spyderco Proficient was placed just after the drop came to an end. Now our vendor will be working hard to prepare it for shipment to each of you.
As soon as we receive word from the vendor about the shipping schedule, we will update you all with that information.
Look forward to another update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 11/12 or earlier if anything comes up.

This looks very cool. I've always wanted to own a S90V blade. The knife looks really great.
Too bad it's so pricey, though. I've already bought my allotment of $200+ Spyderco knives for the year. Probably for the next year, too, already.
Hmmm... Tempted, though.
