Riffing on Spyderco’s Sage 1, award-winning knifemaker Chris Reeve has taken Michael Walker’s LinerLock design to the next level. The Spyderco Sage 2 features a back handle that functions as both a lock and handle spring. It’s known as the Reeve Integral Lock, and it’s the key component in making the knife light and slim without sacrificing durability.
Note: Due to additional scrutiny and increased seizures at Customs this drop will be limited to members within the US. This drop is limited to 80 knives.
The Sage 2 is equipped with a flat-ground spear-point blade, which is made with CPM S30V stainless steel. Meanwhile, the handle—screw-constructed from titanium—is fitted with bronze washers for a more fluid open/close. Complementing the Sage 2’s slim profile is the silhouette wire clip, which adjusts for right- and left-handed users. And for added grip, Reeve included jimping on the spine and finger choil.
A sage is wise, someone whose judgment is not to be doubted. Which is why Spyderco asked Reeve to design the Sage 2. In 1984, he was making knives in the garage of his home. Now, this 61-year-old from Durban, South Africa, is a member of Blade Magazine’s Cutlery Hall-of-Fame. His latest collaboration with Spyderco is just another notch in a belt that includes a handful of patents and nearly a dozen knifemaking awards.
