Read up on Phil Wilson and all his pdfs etc on his site. http://www.seamountknifeworks.com
The guy is a legend in knives especially heat treatment. Very few do it better than him. This knife is made by spyderco but is his design. The heat treatment will not be the same as his. I highly recommend a Phil Wilson custom if you can afford one.

Aside from obvious taste differences, how does this knife compare to the 3V tantos from Cold Steel?
I only really like the unfortunately-named 'Warcraft' tanto, where this Wilson design seems like a great upgrade from a Mora or Spyderco Bill Moran.

Omniseed3v is tougher than s90v. However s90v will cut longer, alot longer. If your going to be chopping use the 3v. If your going to cut stuff use the s90v.
This knife is great! Excellent design for food processing etc.

anonomousJust wanted to add that I would recommend diamonds to sharpen s90v and it will take a bit longer to sharpen than 3v also. 3v also recommended to use diamond. As a cheaper alternative SiC stones will work to sharpen both too but may take a little longer.
3v is more of a double edge sword. Because it's tough and has really good edge retention. But a knife this size and design is more for cutting than beating something with.

Even for me in Canada, this deal is only $15USD different from the Blade HQ price+Shipping. But with no waiting....
So it's not much of a savings.

$179-$189 with free shipping from several online retailers. No reason to buy through massdrop and wait a month or more when their price is not less expensive.
Edit: looks like they did decrease the lowest price to $169.99 + shipping ($172.74 shipped for me). I already ordered one from bladehq for $179.99 shipped and I'll have it this week. The $7 savings isn't worth the wait for me. At least MD listened and lowered the price, though.

WrightI've just checked bladehq and they list it at $257.97, did they have a sale? Amazon is also at $242.80.

dkjnvldjrvnldrgzHmm, strange that bladehq raised the price back up. The South fork was recently discontinued by Spyderco, so several retailers marked down the price (bladehq was the lowest I found at $179.99 shipped). Looks like knifecenter still has them for $189.95 shipped.
