Non-locking is fine with me! I always cut into the blade rather than against the spine, just cutting package tape, envelopes, blister packs, and stray strings, not exactly using my knives for wood processing. I actually would prefer non-locking, so I can close the blade with one hand. My Dragonflies and my Robin all are really tight compared to my Ladybug and Meadowlark, so it's harder to open one-handed and very difficult to close the lock-back one handed.
I'd like to open the blade one-handed too, but that Spydie hole looks a little small... maybe use a (ugly) zip tie as a sort of thumb stud? Anyone have a suggestion for a quality, small bladed, non-assisted, one handed open/close knife? This seems pretty close!

EvshrugThe Spyderco Urban is the same knife with a thumbhole. Slightly larger is the Spyderco UK Pen knife but it has lesser steel.

EvshrugI can easily open my Spy-DK with one hand. I just pinch the blade at the hole with my thumb and forefinger and open halfway. Then I finish the motion just using my thumb against the blade. It's not as easy or smooth as Spyderco's other knives, but as long as you'er careful, it works.

StuntZombie@MJ.L & @StuntZombie , thanks to you both for the suggestions! I'll have to look at the Urban because larger isn't ideal, but opening this knife one-handed sounds doable!

EvshrugIt just takes a bit of practice, and it's not going to be as fast as Spyderco's with the larger hole. I'm finding I actually prefer smaller blades these days. They're definitely a lot easier to carry, and they handle most everything I need a knife for.
