Dag, this is an excellent price for this knife. I am strongly tempted, especially given that I've been looking for one of these for awhile.

Massdrop usually has the cheapest prices. At least for US buyers. As an added bonus, Massdrop customer service is great. If by chance you get a defective item, Massdrop stands by their customers, and corrects the issue to your satisfaction in a timely manner. Always very responsive to factory defects and issues with products sold on their site. Personally I have never had any factory defects with the Massdrop purchased spyderco knives. I have experienced issues with electronics once or twice and Massdrop took care of the problem quickly and to my satisfaction with no hassle. It's always nice to know when shopping online that the company stands by the products they sell. And Massdrop is in category.

Very similar in weight to the GB2, a friend of mine has that (I have this). Do keep in mind that the Starmate made its way to the 2016 discontinued list so the earlier you get it, the less likely you'll be gouged for the discontinued premium

To all considering this knife, I recommend you reconsider. Build quality on this knife was subpar. The blade-side of the tang is unfinished, as is the inside of the spyder hole. Teflon washers are really rough and slow compared to the phosphor bronze ones found in other models (paramilitary 2 used as reference). Blade steel itself is good, feels good in hand. It has a nice solid feel to it, but like other users have said it is a bit on the long side, esp. for EDC.

LayNThat's disappointing to hear, I just bought the Spyderco Bradley 2 at a similar price point and am very happy with the quality of that knife (Bradley 2 has a 3.6 inch CPM-M4 blade w/ carbon fiber over G10 scales). And I agree that 4 inch blade is starting to get into the little too big for EDC category
