sn0wman72They are attempting to get around the "minimum advertised pricing" or "MAP" model that Spyderco insists on from its dealers. So they offer the knife for the same price you see it everywhere (MAP) and then give you a "rebate" for not taking the pouch. End result is the customer get the knife cheaper than MAP without violation the policy.
They don't seem to be doing that trick here, so there is no real deal to be had.

Benzohonestly the Ontario rat folders are a much better value imo; aus-8 steel, stronger steal in the liners than the liners in spyderco's budget line, and they're only about 30 bucks. I've got a couple spydercos and ontarios, and honestly the rat 1 is probably the best bang for the buck folder you can get

RighteousbaeI have several OKC blades, including the Rat-1 & 3, and a Joe Pardue model. I like them all, and would agree that the Rat1 is a great EDC. However, I’m a huge Spyderco fan, and carry the brand at all times.

RighteousbaeYou can also get the rat 1&2 in D2 steel if you want better steel (except for corrosion resistance). I don't think it's any more expensive in D2 either.

I do wonder why some of the Spyderco drops have the pouch offer (choose to not have include the pouch and save $10 to $20)? If this drop had the option to not take the pouch and save $10, then we would have a good deal
