Product Description
Spyderco has long been a favorite in the EDC community, and this drop highlights six of the company’s most popular folders—all souped-up with premium ZDP-189 steel and striking, British racing-green handle scales. On the small end of the spectrum , you'll find the Ladybug and Manbug, which are compact enough to be clipped to a keychain or comfortably carried in a fifth pocket on a pair of pants Read More

these are Amazon prices for stock Spyderco knives. At least kick us out some Maxamet or K390 or something we can't already have in a day.

hello all, I'm a knife guy and a "metal snob" and have all of the ZDP's from spyderco (and one from rockstead) I would like to raise a few points:
  1. they do keep a great edge but...
  2. they are a nightmare to resharpen.
  3. the alloy is extremely brittle and chips super easy. The lock on my endura actually broke from falling out of my pocket on concrete and all of my ZDP's has chips just from EDC work.
despite of what i wrote, the ZDP dragonfly is still my favorite EDC but we should consider that this alloy is not the best for knives.

Y.RotemWell, they probably did not use zdp-189 on any other metal parts than the blade. So you should not blame the lock breaking on zdp-189 properties

FundinThe part that broke is the part of the blade in which the backlock engages so it is unfortunatly zdp... but i can be blamed for dropping it 😉

burlyman78Uhm the zdp dragon fly on BHQ is $87.75.... I don’t think $.25 is worth that level of implied frustration

I know it's shocking, but Blade HQ has the ZDP-189 Manbug for less (even greater if you pay tax with MD, but not BHQ)... and you get great customer service, and your knife in days. Tough decision there...

I just checked. Manbug ZDP-189 on BHQ is $60.45; on MD, it's $68, and for me, I get to add on sales tax too. Brings the delta to $12.48, or 20.65% higher. That's substantial.

So, the cheesy plastic handles probably cost, what, $3 - $5 to mfg at most? Is a 2.5" blade of ZDP-189 really worth $80+ ? Value is in the eye of the beholder, and if you think it's an $88 knife, that's all that really matters. Personally, I see a $30 , maybe $35 knife at best.

I love my dragonfly and carry it almost every day. Very tempted to get a ZDP one. There is just one issue that I have to bring up. The pocket clip comes loose every few weeks. I've stopped using the clip because I'm tired of attaching it. I've almost lost it twice because of this. Does anyone else have the problem? It seems like a pretty poor design compared to the 3 screw clips.

"one of the most corrosion resistant steels ever".....you're kidding right? I LOVE my zdp..but it's not ANYTHING close to corrosion resistant..right up there with my M4 stuff as far as how quickly this steel will rust.. misleading

Massdrop why do you keep advertising the sale of one item as a "Collection?" You are not selling a collection, just one knife. A collection is when you sell multiple items for one price. If you want to sell one item with different options or variations say so, but do not call it a collection, as this is just not accurate.

OnionmanI think it’s because it’s a steel collection.. meaning all the varieties in that steel are available

ErhonI am sure that's what they want to say, but they are not selling a collection of anything, so it is flat out wrong and misleading. If Massdrop would include an option to buy a collection of multiple pieces at once price, then they can call it a collection. Otherwise the listing should be renamed. This just really annoys me coming from a company that should know better.
