Whats the difference between this and the MAX macropad? looks like less buttons and double the price (uglier but that's only my opinion and isn't factual)

JoelGilpinExcellent point. The aluminum version of the Staryu costs less and has a more compact (and imho more elegant) form factor. There's also a wider range of color choices for the aluminum case and the cord lights up. (But the cord is, unfortunately, hot pink, so odds are you're just going to throw it away anyway.)
Other than that, the MAX does look like the better product, pound for pound. The 25% price increase is more than offset just by the 60% increase in the number of keys. It's also dramatically more customizable in terms of looks — any color keycaps you want, any color programmable LEDS you want, easy macros. http://www.maxkeyboard.com/max-falcon-8-custom-programmable-mini-macropad-mechanical-keyboard-assembled.html
