As a first resp./ firefighter, I see stuff like this for sale all the time. It's always "designed by a ... (insert veteran leo, paramedic or fire fighter)". Tools like this can be real handy to keep in a turnout pocket or a jump bag, but I would like to know if I'm going to use it a couple times and pitch it because it's busted? Or is it going to stand up to some use and last a while? I don't mind paying for quality and I'm also used to buying equipment I know I'll need to replace regularly. I just like to know which of those scenarios is the case before I put money down.

IDLH_173It's handy, but honestly something like the Benchmade Triage or the Spyderco Assist seem to be just about unbeatable for a rescue knife. That and maybe one of those little spring loaded punches for consistent glass breaking, using the knife's carbide striker if the punch fails.

IDLH_173This appears to be more a novelty than anything that would be taken more seriously. This is the knife a 16 year old pulls out to impress his friends between classes.
