A handy tool for thru-hikes, solo adventures, and group trips, too, the StickPic transforms your trekking pole into a tripod for better self-portraits and video journals in the great outdoors. No more unflattering close-ups or attempts to balance your camera on a rock—this device allows for perfect framing, weighs less than 11 grams, and takes up hardly any space in your pack. Invented by a backpacker from California nearly a decade ago, the StickPic has gone through many iterations based on feedback from field tests all over the world. This model was made exclusively for Massdrop and is designed for use with the Fizan Compact Poles.
Note: At checkout, you can add a smartphone adapter (+ $8.50), Bluetooth remote shutter (+ $8.50), or GoPro tripod adapter (+ $9.50). This drop is limited to 40 units. The StickPic in this drop is designed to fit Fizan Compact poles only.
Use the StickPic with your point-and-shoot or DSLR camera right out of the box, or pick up an adapter to pair it with your smartphone or GoPro. To squeeze bigger groups (or more of your surroundings) into the shot, check out the Bluetooth remote shutter. By downloading the free app from Google Play or the App Store, you can pair your device to the remote and enjoy wireless control within 30 feet.
Screw the StickPic at least one or two full turns into the tripod socket on the bottom of your camera so that the words “The StickPic” are facing the front. While holding the StickPic in one hand, turn the black jam nut counterclockwise until it firmly makes contact with the bottom of the camera. Wipe away any dirt, water, and grime from the end of your trekking pole. Then, slide and firmly wedge the tip of the pole into the StickPic using a twisting motion. Attach the wrist strap to the top of the pole basket (this will act as a safety link). Set the self-timer for about 5 seconds, extend the trekking pole in front of you, and smile—you’re ready for a better selfie.
