OMG... can we PLEASE go back to an "oldest first" commenting system!!!
Hey all, I have been using one of these trowels since before they were released (sponsored by Suluk46) and I can confirm that they are comfortable. They will not cut into your hands (or should not, insert idiot factor disclaimers herein). I found the QiWiz one to be much harder on the hands to use (thinness of the material caused small skin cuts a few times).
As for the holes in the handle... the idea is to save weight, yeah. i do not like them, as semi wet dirt gets stuck in them and that causes your trowel bag to get muddy, and wish suluk46 would make a version w/o the holes, but meh, such as it is.
And yes, you can beat the crap out of these things (with a stick) in order to drive it into super hard ground. You will want to be careful to not bend it on the way out, but it can do some minor excavation work w/o getting damaged.
