So far the Sun Jack solar charger and power bank has worked beautifully. It's small enough to fit in my pack, isn't very heavy and charges everything that I need. I've been impressed with it so far but I need more time to give it a thorough review.

HBJCSo tell me. Just how much sunlight to actually charge something worthwhile like small capacity powerbank? Not enough, i'll bet, to justify the hike weight penalty. Pass.

ozedudeIt's not that heavy. It works great whether on my pack or in my car; and it charges the battery just fine. Maybe you should exercise and grow some more muscles in that body of yours before replying with a retarded response. If you are going to pass on the Charger+Powerbank, why bother responding? You can't make a serious judgment call on a product if you haven't tried it out yourself.

HBJCWell i guess i was just hoping for an intelligent response to negate my assumption, which by the way is predicated on my personal experience in hiking in various terrains and extreme weather conditions. But i guess thats why they call it a discussion. Haha i'll be sure to have you vet my responses in future so they conform to your view of who/what is or isn't "retarded". FYI, you haven't really detailed what it is you charged out on a hike, type of hike you were on or typical weather conditions you encountered hence my statement. I know from other blogs that other people with similar uses in mind have these same questions.

ozedudeI would have responded with a far more polite demeanor if you responded with a far more intellectual response to my simple review, which I stated would be more in-depth at a later date. Apparently that was too much for you. You could have asked more specific questions on what type of batteries, phone or tablet I was using at the time. What was the area like that I was hiking or walking in? How does it react when you are using it while driving around where you live? Do you keep it inside the vehicle when parked or outside? Does it seem to make a significant difference if it's behind a window, clean or dirty? Simple questions like that; rather than assuming you knew exactly who, what, where, when, why and how and that you would "pass" on the product because I didn't have enough information in my review at the time I posted it. When you asked how much sunlight, you could have easily read over the specifics on the product and figured out with a general consensus from not just my own first review, but others whom have bought the product as well in order to get a guess on how much that would require to charge in a certain amount of time. I would have been happy to respond with more specific answers if not for the first "chin-up" response. Next time, be a bit more polite and ask straight questions and you'll get straight answers rather than assuming you know my answer before I even respond to your own response.
If you are serious about wanting to know more, let us attempt to do a simple question and answer session and I'll give you the details about everything I've seen so far with the SunJack Solar Charger and Powerbank. I'll tell you which one I purchased, the battery that came with it and the various times that it has taken to charge the battery, my phone, tablet, etc. Are you interested in finding out how much time the battery will last while plugged into my phone consistently throughout a work-day? These are the kinds of things I can answer and give you a better idea if the product is worth your time or if it's a dud.
So far, even with dragging the product around on occasion or falling off a picnic table, off the back of my car, etc. The product has held up without any scratches or tears to the canvas like fabric each solar-cell is wrapped in. I've not tested to see how it reacts in light rain while walking through a long-winded trail but that is a potential later on this year. I have used it in extremely hot weather without any noticeable difference in how it charges.
Let's try again if you want to know more. If not, I'm sure you will find a product out there that will be worth your time and effort.

HBJCI'm not really into labouring my point because i don't normally respond to abusers at all. But let me just finish my say and respond to your last by saying you have in no way quantified your original review in any way, hence my response. As my original already stated, i'm only interested in it from a lightweight hiker/trek point of view. To me personally it's not really useful in an "on-grid" situation.

ozedudeIt doesn't charge worth a damn. It really isnt a good product. 6+ hours in direct sunlight did nothing for the battery and its output is low enough to kill devices in use while charging. Really sucks.

BReid6Not sure what to say. Guess some people got a bad batch. Mine works just fine for charging my phone, tablet and the battery that came with it. The battery itself lasts for several hours, I've had it last up to 9 hours plugged into my phone through out the day while in use. This includes games, videos/steaming and talk time. Then again I mainly use it for work and applications where it sits on the car dash while I'm at work to charge my phone when not in use. Then again, the company mass-produces these products like any other so some folks may get lucky and others don't when buying a product. Could be product oversight or poor quality control. Guess I got lucky. Hopefully you'll find another company that works for you. If you find one BReid6, let me know and I'll try that one out too.
