I was considering this item until I saw the packaging. There's no need to have that much unnecessary and irresponsible plastic packaging. Even if it is recyclable which most plastics are not. They eventually end up in landfills, waterways . With the huge amount of plastic problem on this planet this company should know better and 'massdrop' should also know better.

That's excellent. Do you know what percentage of the plastics ACTUALLY get recycled though? I know here in Canada most plastics are also recyclable but the number of plastics that are actually or infact recycled is very low. So in theory it's great but in practice, I don't know. I think more things should just be made out of hemp anyway.

aztecWe tend to recycle at least a majority, if not all plastics here. There are hefty fines for throwing recyclables into the garbage in my county, and the culture of recycling is pervasive throughout California. I know what you mean about plastics ending up in the garbage or just littered in nature. Pretty gross.

Is it water resistant?
What's the different between waterproof and water resistant?

gliese581g.williemFrom Google: Water-resistant: able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely. Water-repellent: not easily penetrated by water, especially as a result of being treated for such a purpose with a surface coating. Waterproof: impervious to water.

Does this headlamp have a memory function for the red LED, i.e. remembers you used red the last time you had it on? THX

OldTrailDogThe red LED is turned on by holding down the on button. Even better. BTW, although I haven't used this rigorously, I'm very happy with it. I'll have more to report after 5 days backpacking in Zion next week.
