I actually own one of these, & I can tell you that the quality is absolutely amazing. I love the thing! I used to carry a plastic pill case, but had to wrap it with a rubber band to keep it from coming open & spilling its contents. I lost more than one due to their light weight (fell out of my coat pocket). This is a much more elegant, albeit pricey solution. Not so heavy as to be uncomfortable to carry, but stays put in my pocket (yay gravity!) & never flips open on its own. Plus it looks awesome & feels even better in my hand. Sure, I admit I choked a bit on the price, but machining from solid billet metals is never "cheap". Definitely an expensive, over-indulgent niche item, but isn't that what Massdrop is really all about? How may of us really NEED audiophile grade headphone tube amps? (They sound incredible, by the way!) If you want it & can afford/justify the price, here's an opportunity to get it cheaper than usual. (If you're balking on the price of this one, you should check out the $165 carbon fiber inlay version on their website!) If you're happy with plastic pill cases, save your $$$. If this product interests you, I promise you won't be disappointed by the quality!
