Hi, I'm new to quilting and would like to know how this brand compares to Aurifil which is a name I keep hearing over and over again when it comes to threads. Many thanks. Grace

gracewEqual, if not better. Aurifil has a color for everything, but Superior does not lack for colors. I think most of the difference would come down to specific traits of a thread; e.g. Aurifil 50wt (2 ply) is thinner than Superior Mastepiece 50wt (3 ply), but only by a hair and the Superior is made from a better longer staple cotton. I've not tried the King Tut yet so I can't compare it to other 40wt threads, but all their thread is very high quality. Aurifil color codes their spools which is very very helpful at a glance (green is 40wt, orange is 50wt, etc.). You can't go wrong with either brand.
