Hi folks. Can these handle high SPL levels, from say a rock band or loud jam band or are they only appropriate for classical music and quieter stuff?

cr0n1cMicrophone stand/tripod attachment. Seems to have a 1/4" adapter you can unscrew also if you want to use standard mic threading.

cr0n1cMicrophone mount/adapter, The rubber acts as a bit of a shock mount, reducing vibration from the mic stand into the mic (vibrations can be picked up by mics). That why a signer should never hold a mic unless it's a live setting and they want/need to do it for 'show'.

FYI the build quality and QC for Soundlux products, including this S502 are very minimal, so be gentle with them. Be prepared if a capsule suddenly dies (which they have in the past).
For ~$200 range, this is a good backup when paired with high quality mixers/preamps.

I've owned one of these for a couple of years. It was recommended to me by a colleague who also does classical recording. It doesn't look like much when you open it up but it performs above its weight class, and there's nothing out there, price wise, for less than $3500 that is set up like it. I just used it, back in April, to record a symphony performance set as a center pair with a couple of omni flankers and got some pretty good results. If you're a "Tapers Section" (refers to a section for live tapers set aside by the Grateful Dead) person, this may be worth adding to your arsenal. At less than $200 you can't go wrong.

OK I can kick this off. I have a bit of a mic fetish because of my Sound Demo's. And my Tascam DR44 has GOOD mics but I have found my two rode mics still perform better and if I want to try mobile recording this seems more manageable then those two or dealing with a whole recorder I have to aim.
