I bought the all black version in May, which I think was the last drop for it. I loved the watch and didn't have a problem reading the display. I took it on a 4 day canoe trip a month after getting the watch. The two top buttons and the mode button stopped working so I could not change the display or utilize any of the functions. I returned the watch to a local dealer who has sent it in for repair/replacement but have yet to hear back. This is apparently a known problem and I will post the response I get from Suunto.

MzanierMy son wears a 10 year old suunto core, and does swimming lessons in it every week. No problems. He doesnt exceed the 30m depth limit. For the record the watch is/was mine. I move on to a Casio Protrek with solar power. Solar power and not replacing batteries was the significant improvement. The Casio also lacks the storm alert which is an excellent feature as long as you don't ride a lift everyday as that rapid pressure change sets it off. I should say changing batteries is not too frequent but it is noticeable. Its also easy to source replacements and do it yourself with a coin for leverage.
If you want the ABC functionality I think this is a pretty cool watch. With the different bands it can be quite fashionable like swatches once were.
