It’s balanced for use in the northern hemisphere and is adjustable for declination correction. Other features of Suunto’s MC-2 include a clinometer (used to measure the angle of slopes), a base plate that features a magnifying lens, and a detachable snap-lock lanyard with wrist lock that makes working with a map—and the USGS UTM scales—much easier. And with luminescent markings, the compass is easier to read in low-light conditions.
