i was gifted an older MC-2 version when I started my senior year of college for archaeology field school. i've had the MC-2 going on 4-5 years now and even though the red lines have all but vanished, the MC-2 has been a great and useful tool. i purchased a newer version of the MC-2 and keep one in my backpacking pack just in case.
i used this compass everyday during my stint as an archaeologist with the forest service. finding bearings, mapping sites, keeping transect lines straight, using the mirror to stay fresh AF, trying to blind my coworkers 10 meters away, etc..
the scales are correct, declination is adjustable, easy to read, and contrary to some, i find the mirror necessary in order to sight and record accurate bearings for cartography.
in any case, these are 38 bucks on amazon.. http://www.amazon.com/Suunto-MC-2-360-IN-SS004239001/dp/B007NWTHBG
