Really? $160 to ship to Canada?http://www.chanemusiccinema.com/M50W?search=Hivi%20m50
250 plus $63 shipping to my address
This isn't the first time it's been pointed out that the shipping to Canadians is unnecessarily high, or that you can get the product for a cheaper 'discounted' price elsewhere.
Massdrop seriously misses more often than it hits now, especially if you're Canadian.
As always with massdrop, Canadian shoppers pay way way more for shipping than elsewhere on earth and nothing we can do about it

You can find the product *advertised* elsewhere. In one case where it may be in stock it's 220v/50Hz and has no local support, although it has large fees to fly it around the world and back. Cross-border shipments to Canada will naturally cost more, unfortunately.
MD offers the factory-authorized, warranted, correct, No. American #40 M50W with immediate availability, and at a nice savings from the former $299 and a MSRP closer to $400.
You're a mass drop vendor, so I can't fault you for supporting mass drop. I know you read the part where I said 'Canadian', but 'cross-border shipments to Canada will naturally cost more', quite frankly screw you. Where's the logic in this? Why do Americans pay $10-20 shipping, but Canadians routinely are required to pay more than 10x that? Not even eBay gouges Canadians that hard on shipping. And that's saying A LOT. I can only hope that the shipping costs also cover import fees, because at that point I may as well just pay for a round trip to the border and pick up the product at a facility there for what it'll cost me. I can only imagine that this obscene price raise in shipping to Canada comes from products being shipped to the US first, and then from a facility to Canada, effectively doubling down on any shipping and import fees.
Not to mention there's no justification in MassDrop's shipping charges when they're informally and affectionately known as MolassesDrop.
You insist that some of the products are 220v/50hz; they very rarely are, especially if you're buying from specifically a north american vendor. You say MD offers factory-authorized, warranty covered products, there have been instances where MD products are not covered under warranty of any, or used refurbished products with only a small mention in the subtext. Buyer beware and check the fine print.
MSRP is a total sham, and don't try to tell me otherwise because I've worked in the retail industry and I know how much store cost is vs. MSRP, especially for higher end products. Additionally, the MSRP for this product in specific is $319, with $229.99 being the discounted price, and with the low low shipping cost of $159.75 to Canada I'm saving a massive... negative $70. Oh boy, what a steal! Again, this is without taking into account the very likely fact that we'll be slapped with unannounced import fees upon delivery.
Very often the stuff on mass drop I can find off amazon for cheaper, not even taking into account I get free two day shipping from my prime membership (which as a Canadian, Prime membership for a year often costs less than shipping for a SINGLE PRODUCT from here).
I'm not attacking massdrop, because they do indeed offer products at a discount. Just how they treat Canadians in general.

You'll have to discuss specific shipping with your etailer, but experienced sellers know that even discounted, high-volume *carrier* freight is double or more into Canada what in-country shipping costs. It's completely normal for it to be expensive to deliver even to the urban markets along the Canadian border, more to the vast interior.
Duties, brokerage, and custom's fees also add significantly. Again, discuss with your dealer.
Obviously price tiering is a normal, legitimate factoring of the costs of distributorships, local dealers, sales and warranty support, etc. This is no small thing when 220v/50Hz product ships thousands of miles direct from an unauthorized reseller, as many have found out the hard way. 100% of the HiVi product available from MD is covered by local warranty; contact them with any concerns.
At the end of the day, MD and its brands depend on value and service. Any comparison must naturally factor all costs, not least being authorized, correct product, availability, warranty, service, and support. No markets are being singled out and treated differently.
FObjects, you live in a socialist country, why do you think shipping is so expensive - especially to get things over your border.... To explain in simple terms: Your government/Canadian Post charges obscene fees to get packages across the border, then the Canadian Post has to pay 2/3 of the money they make after that in taxes to your government, so as an example when they make $300 Million in gross profit, they have to pay $200 Million in taxes which leaves them with $100 Million net profit. They also have to pay ridiculously bloated pensions plans. All of that tax and pension burden is passed on to you, the customer, so try to reign in your misguided teenage angst - and direct it towards who is at fault, your own government and the Canadian Post - NOT Massdrop. Massdrop companies would love to sell their products to as many people as possible(duh?), so obscene shipping prices are the fault of the country you live in, they are not artificially marking it up because you're a Canadian(duh?) Plenty of sources for how your government makes your life more expensive, use Google.
