Mmm.. nope. Points for effort, but nope.
It's like they wanted a flip open watch case, but then someone had the genius idea to cut a hole in the flip cover so that you don't have to flip the cover to tell the time (the cover even has Arabic hour markers).
Then why, pray tell, does the cover need to flip at all? Why not just make it a bezel? I guess if you flip open the cover then you get to tell time in Roman numerals instead?
So maybe this would be a perfect watch for an inhabitant of the Roman Empire who chances upon a timeslip and finds himself thrust into the 21st Century, and must learn to adapt quickly or die.
This watch will quickly train our dislocated Roman friend how to tell time in the newfangled curvy Arabic numerals, like humans of the distant future, and wean him off the familiar but archaic straight lines of Roman numerals.

Daisy_CutterIt could also be nice for ostentatiously checking the time if you're getting tired of waiting around. You glance at it with the cover on to see the time, but if you want to drive home the fact that you're checking the time, as in "c'mon let's get a move on already" you bring it up and flip the top.
