I absolutely love the idea. I work in a casual environment and motorcycle commute around 60% of the time. I was looking for a durable, low-key way to carry some papers, a notebook and a few pens. I thought this was going to be amazing.
First-you have to trim the back of a legal pad to make it fit in the slot. It is too narrow. For something that advertises "perfectly fits an 8.5x11.5" pad this is a serious let down.
Second-the spine is so formed it won't lay flat. I have a 30lb weight on mine right now trying to see if I can flatten it out. We'll see if it works and if it does...if it will then loose the flexibility to close.
Ultimately...I bought a nearly $40 Rhodia notebook because the folio is unusable.
