Love Will's stuff. Wish the pens were a bit narrower though. They're too thick for my hands.
According to the first paragraph, this uses the Schmidt DSM 2007 pencil mechanism, which I have only been able to find in 0.7mm. It also says that it comes available with 0.5mm. Are you using the Schmidt DSM 2006 for the 0.5mm option here? I have read online the 2006 has a plastic body and might not be as durable and the 2007 only comes in 0.7mm.
Thanks! ~

The DSM 2007 definitely comes in both 0.5mm and 0.7mm. We do not use the 2006.

Hi TactileTurn,
Thanks for the reply! Looks like I was wrong about the DSM 2007. Now I just have to decide which color I want.
I have the titanium version from the Kickstarter, and can say the pencil is absolutely amazing! VERY well done Will and highly recommended!

Thanks for the endorsement! Glad you're enjoying it!
How does the pencil work? Does the tip retract? Does the bolt advance the lead or retract the tip? Hard to tell in the photos, but there are none with the tip retracted. Thanks
Chris..a
No, the tip does not retract - the bolt advances the lead and you can also hold it down in order to slide the lead back in to stow it for travel.
The tip (silver colored bit) is part of the pencil insert and you can swap out the pencil insert with either a 0.5mm or 0.7mm lead advancing mechanism, if that helps explain things at all. (I picked up one of these from the kickstarter)

The tip does not retract. The bolt advances the lead when you press down on the bolt.
$55 is kinda crazy.

have you ever bought a high quality pen/pencil before? like made in japan/germany quality? this is actually run-of-the-mill pricing in comparison to the market.
furthurmore, stuff like this lasts forever so think of this as a single lifetime payment of 55 that will last you well over a decade. thats like $5 a year. plus you throw away less waste from cheapo plastic pens/pencils.

I don’t think you’ve been paying attention to any of the other pen/pencil projects on here.
Glad to see a Tactile Turn product on here!!
Any chance we can get some Movers and Shakers soon?
