To preface, Im a novice and this was the first amp I've ever purchased. I thought it sounded amazing. Without much to compare to, I got anxious to see what other amps could do. I tried to get something similar, but with more power. I ended up getting an Onkyo A-9050 to play on the same Klipsch RP-150M's I had been using with the TEAC. After about 2-3 months, I am missing the clarity and balance of the TEAC AI-301DA and am be switching back. It definitely has less power thank the Onkyo, the DAC in the TEAC seems keep the sound cleaner, even on harder hitting songs. I didn't think that would be something I would notice or miss as much, but I really do.

ChooseToRideMight even be a combination the DACs and different amp topologies, the Onkyo is class A/B versus the TEAC's class D amp.

ChooseToRideHow loud does this amp drive the Klipsch RP-150M 's? I have the same bookshelves and my amp is dying. I don't want to feel like the amp I purchased is gutless though, especially for the money.
Thanks.

hyp36rmaxI tried both on the TEAC. I could tell the USB was allowing the quality to go even higher with higher quality formats, but with streaming music (Google music) it was much harder for me to distinguish. Maybe a little bit with TIDAL, but that could have been in my head.

AlmondSeasonIt gets way loud. Like, as loud as you want and it definitely will get the woofers moving. I think the clarity really shows off the tweeters on the RP-150M's and possibly enhances the imaging. I'm not experienced enough to speak of low end though. I hear more low end from hooking them up to my Onkyo A-9050, but I can't say it is higher quality low end. I honestly think that I would be happier, switching my speakers back to the TEAC and adding on a sub. It would be killer. I also agree with @DenonFanboy's comment and that could be making a bigger different than anything else.
