Yes indeed, Tritium is not allowed for "frivolous" applications.
They do install Tritium sights on many handguns as an optional add-on, and I can tell you from 2 memorable experiences, there is not much more frivolous than thinking that such sighting systems have any real world application...for any number of reasons not the least of which is autonomic pupillary constriction which further makes you stumble about. But we buy em cuz chicks dig it.
i love me some Tritium, just like Titanium. It's a T Fetish if you will. In these images you see AmazeBay sourced stuff using both of my favorite elements. There's a $60 three tube "hair bead" that (so far) comes in two diameters, one of which is a ring size 12. Then there's that long tube, the green ones are brightest, about $80 also from China. That very dark round thing is a $4500 Ball Engineer watch with more Tritium tubes than I can count, maybe 75 or so. The point is- Tritium comes in all illumination levels. Gun sights like the Trijicon brand use the same really dim versions as that Ball wristwatch. So much for practical applicaion.
Tritium itself is a clear gas. It bounces around frantically at an atomic level, what we see glowing is the inert powder target It is smacking into.
go get some Tritium, but not through this MD.

Earl_E_DopterAGREED! Can't believe the whiners and crybabies. This is a great deal on the holders. Tritium vials are easily obtained from a number of suppliers. I've gotten them from...

Earl_E_DopterWell, you get pupillary dilation when under stress, so night sights may prove to be useful; I certainly did. Can't speak for these tubes - they look cool for finding keys in the dark, I'd guess.
