I've purchased these from Amazon for literally three dollars. They come without the carabiner, but still a better deal. They're useful, but can be had for cheaper elsewhere.
I can't compare the quality of this versus that, but the other one held up fine. It did its function. Vktech 79096

ravenpope@ravenpope The ones on Amazon are designed and made in China. The TEC Accessories P7 is designed in California, and seems to be made with a bit more forethought, and is of higher quality (I can't say if the P7 is made in the USA or not, but I'm more concerned with quality and design than where it's made).
The Chinese one I got from Amazon was about 2-3x bigger than what I expected, like, maybe it would work for a pair of 1990's baggy-skater-type jeans, but it's not going in the pocket of my Lucky Brand or Express jeans, it's just too big. The P7, which I don't currently own, looks to be much smaller and easier to fit into a pocket. Oh, and the Chinese thing showed up covered in machine oil, in a bag, which is was gross, and probably because it wasn't made from good stainless and would have rusted on the 2-week trip from China to USA (literally it was the longest transit item I've ever purchased on Amazon).

flyinglotus1983It's a bent piece of stamped steel. There isn't much forethought involved. I'm not sure what you're expecting. Yeah, the Chinese ones probably aren't finished quite as nicely, but it's not like there are rough burrs that are at all wearing away at my denim. If it's really an issue for you, you can just take some fine sandpaper, and in fifteen seconds solve the problem yourself. You'll still end up saving over ten bucks in the end. Go buy some beers with the money you saved.
I'm sure there's plenty of sellers offering versions in various qualities, and various dimensions. I can't speak to whatever you purchased, but the one I bought, and mentioned, is less than two inches in length. It's the same dimensions as this one, and arrived to me bone dry. No oil to be found on mine. Sounds like you just got a different product than what I mentioned. You're also complaining about the shipping speed from China. Honestly, I think having something this small travel across the largest ocean in two weeks is actually quite impressive. Are people really that spoiled by Amazon prime that anything longer than two days is unacceptable? Besides, I'll say again that it's a bent piece of stamped steel. Why do you need it to be there so quickly. Regardless, the shipping speed has nothing to do with the quality of a product.
This isn't an iphone that they're making. There wasn't a thinktank of engineers required to design this, and there aren't any specialists needed to produce it. Once again, it's a bent piece of stamped steel. But if someone insists on spending more money on something so simple, more power to them! I was just giving people options. More options is always better..
