yurishakhmanNo, production stopped a few years ago and the price for a new one has more than doubled since then.

DJKaoticaThey actually started production again. But, you're right they did initially stop production in 2010

DeleteReally? Where did you see this? Panasonic has teased a potential new Technics turntable to go with their current retro-looking, high-end, high-priced Technics line. But I've not seen anywhere that the original 1210 (or any variants) are back in production.

It was quite a few months ago. I read that there were two being released in 2016.

DeleteAs I understand it, they are coming out with a new turntable design, not simply restarting production of the SL1200. So far it has only been shown as a non-working prototype layout with no tonearm. Visually does not bear much resemblance to the SL1200 series. And no word on just how much it's going to set you back (my guess is well north of $1800).

There is a petition drive to get Panasonic to bring back the original, which has garnered 27K+ signatures, but so far no commitment from Panasonic.
