Just received and noticed a blemish on the hot plate. Looks like some of the protective coating chipped off? Should this be a cause for concern? Would a replacement request be done through Massdrop or Technivorm since it looks like something that occurred during shipping?

They are all handmade, so this is unfortunate, but understandable. It's the baked-on protective coating. I'd contact Technivorm to see what they say. If it was me, I'd likely seek a replacement, because you'll have this for a long time
Got ours yesterday, cleaned it, set it up today. The coffee is really great, and I did indeed notice a difference. Yes, the carafe is small, makes 4 8oz cups (or 8 European cups-maybe that's a better way to look at it...) but it brews fast, and is not an issue for us. I'm impressed, and will be sourcing a permanent filter, but otherwise, very happy with this
Any thoughts as to a good, permanent filter to use?

Got one on Amazon-yes, I understand they recommend the white paper filters, but I like the permanent variety
I wish we could choose a color other than black. If the yellow one was on here, I’d snap it up in an instant. I’ll probably end up paying full price just because I want a pop of jazzy color in my kitchen. I also want the thermal carafe model.

I agree. I bought the fire engine red one with thermal caraf about five years ago, just before they raised the prices across the board. I've stopped using it though because of the plastic brew basket and have considered selling it as it's in perfect condition. These days I'm using French press and pour over. Perhaps I'll contact the distributor to see if I can buy the newer BPA/BPS/BPF & Phthalate free brew basket.

If you want to sell it, I'm interested. Let me know, also your price on it. Thanks!
Can't decide between this and ninja coffee bar. Ninja can make cold coffee and espresso too. But the technivorm makes me look like a coffee snob. Anybody out there own both?

I have always wanted a Technivorm, but wound up getting a Ninja based on positive reviews and price (which isn't too far off from this Massdrop price). The Ninja creates an espresso-like drink by (I think) delivering the water more slowly to the grounds creating a bolder, more concentrated taste. You're supplied a pump-action milk frother that's intended to substitute the steamed milk. Honestly, it isn't bad at all. However, this is a killer deal on a new Technivorm Moccamaster. I'm still on the fence. Anyone else have some other thoughts to add?

Only technivorm but I am certified coffee snob. I do not miss or feel a calling for espresso with the batches of coffee I can now brew. My complaint about the technivorm is the carafe is 40 ounces. My wife and I drink a this amount in our sleep.
Hi we will be leaving town on Jan 4. Would you be able to ship to an alternate address?
Yes thermal carafe version please!!!
I'm a current owner of a 10 year old Technivorm with stainless steel thermal carafe and Im in the market for a new machine. I'd easily be apart of this drop if the stainless steel thermal carafe was offered. Glass, however well made, tends to eventually break. Furthermore the stainless steel model is sturdier and less prone to breakage during cleaning. I also like the usefulness of having a thermal carafe as it keeps your coffee warm. This drop really needs this upgrade option to really take an already great machine over the top.

Hi-ho-hi-ho
I will add my request for this. How difficult was cleaning the thermal carafe?
MrD1
Very easy. Just rinse daily. Once a month you need to run a de-scaleing cleaning detergent through. But that's simple and takes 5 mins. Thanks for running the request through.
Thank you to the massdrop community for bringing this to my attention! I had no idea about this coffee maker brand even though I had been shopping around. There's so many long term happy users providing reviews that I'm certain I've made a good choice and excited to make a great cup o' joe. Thank you!
does it ship to Canada ?

I am in the States and it shows a shipping charge when you join the drop. Am I missing something?
I’m showing a shipping charge for US. Please advise
Is this for a 32oz pot?
KChusker
Yes
Is the drop for the black version as pictured ?

We typically list the model #'s in the specs at the bottom of the page. Here is a link to this specific model on Technivorm's site: https://us.moccamaster.com/kbs-coffee-brewer-black.html

Thank you. Sorry I didn't catch that in the specs.
Will this work with a 220V (European socket)? Or will it need a transformer?
Holy shit. I've never seen this so deeply discounted. I just paid $320 for mine and it's absolutely worth it (so this is really a steal). I never knew it was possible to make coffee so good.
Adding to the kudos. You will be blown away.
I agree!! We've had ours for about 9 years and everyone loves our coffee!! Read about it from Cooks Illustrated testing kitchen about how superior this coffee maker was and haven't regretted the purchase once. I know I paid close to $300 for it - you're right - this is a steal.
You don't understand how much better this coffee maker is. This is a steal. Boils water in about 10-20 seconds... Yes that fast? Use the scoop, and base your formula on one scoop per Euro sized cup. It's the ak47 of coffeemakers, will not break. I have the thermos version for 10 yrs. The water temp is laser calibrated for perfection. This is a must buy.
