Do not hesitate to purchase this coffee brewer. The complaints about loose parts are bogus because it makes cleaning easy. And, I find no problem with spills when filling coffee mug from carafe. I also find no need to warm the carafe with warm water before using. Equally important, because the brew speed is 5 minutes for 10 cups I find no reason to worry about the lack of an automatic timer. If this is a real problem, just buy a WEMO and control with Amazon Echo. Most importantly, the coffee tastes much better than when I used Mr. Coffee or Cuisinart.
