Are you and Tenkara Rod Co going to be doing a drop for the Sierra rod any time soon? I saw there was one about a year ago but I don't know how frequently they happen. I would love to get the Sierra rod if possible.
ttgg11Yeah we will probably run that one soon

Tried out the Owyhee this afternoon in Central Park. I hope everyone is having better luck than I am. It splintered up on my 10th bluegill. I am waiting for Tenkararodco's response.

hikeasaurI bought their Teton package, 2nd hand off eBay, it also broke like yours while fishing in Yosemite. I had no idea about the lifetime warranty, or if it was transferable, otherwise I'd hit them up - it ended up in a trash bin in the park and I ended up $100 out of pocket. Thanks for your review, I was debating about giving them another go.
That's our strongest rod, it's what we fish salmon and other big trout with. Pretty nuts that you had it break on blue gill. If you want to swap it for a Teton or different rod, hit us up at Hello@tenkararodco.com

I'm in no rush, but I can't wrap my head around how DHL is estimating 6 days to deliver a package from NJ to NY.

New to fishing as a whole but i like the idea of Tenkara. Would this do well for fishing from the beach? we have fish such as butterfly, angel, parrot fish, clown fish, barracuda and grouper from shore . any tips or ideas?

No, not made for salt water/beach fishing. For the same amount of money you can get a decent spinning reel and rod combo. This is made for fly fishing, which is top water fishing with artificial "flies." You'll be using a sinker and some sort of bait. Check out something like this: http://m.thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-rod-reel-for-most-fishers/

Casting distance just isn't there with a fixed-line rod such as tenkara. It originated in Japan to harvest trout from small mountain streams. Get yourself a surf rod and steel leaders if you're going for toothy fish like barracuda.

Thinking of buying this for a trip to lapland. Would this rod be enough? Will the other models (Sawtooth, Teton) be okay too? What size fish can I get with this rod? A what's the difference between the 10.5 to the 13 feet line? Looks negligible to me

Caught this river monster with the TUSA Sato. These rods are more resilient than I'd imagined.

I've been fishing for a year with my Teton and recently bought the Sawtooth for a friend. Adding this one to my collection. Fishing Tenkara is a blast, easy to learn and great on small lakes and streams. Rods are capable of taking large fish too - Watch the Alaska video on the vendor site. Small fish to large fish these rods are capable of doing it all.
