eyepatchyIf you configure it with the lighter options it will cost more, plus it doesn't have this nice blending-in green color like Terra Nova.

semkaAbsolutely, and this may be a better all around tent, however, Massdrop is making the claim that this is the lightest free-standing two-person tent in the world. I don't think that is true. Claiming one of the lightest would be true.

eyepatchyWe are not making the claim that this is the lightest free-standing two-person (double-wall) tent in the world. That fact was established in 2011 by Guinness Book of World Records. However, in the five years since then , it is entirely possible that something lighter has come out. We can all agree it is certainly one of the lightest now. @eyepatchy

DannyMilksWow. Your response bums me out. Can you see why this might come across as being deceptive?

eyepatchyHi @eyepatchy - I hear you about the wording on the drop page and we've updated this to be more clear. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
FYR, I checked with Guinness Book of World Records and the Terra Nova still holds the record, but as I mentioned earlier, there may be lighter tents out there that haven't applied for the record or maybe don't qualify for some reason unknown to us? I don't know how that all works. But that is all a distraction to the fact that this is a two-person double-wall free-standing tent that weighs 34 ounces - incredible by any standards. Though, as @raptelan pointed out, the area around the foot of the tent is on the tight side, similar to a lot of Big Agnes tents.

semkaThe Big Sky Soul x2 is significantly lighter when spec'd out with the lightest fabrics and carbon fiber poles. once stakes, guyline, and stuff sack are included, it costs over $800. I'd imagine there is a (potentially) less expensive free standing cuben fiber tent out there? I know that Zpacks and HMG don't make a free-standing CF tent.
