Anyone else having payment issues? Chase said this was fraudulent activity and even though I ok'd it, it looks like I've been kicked off :(

inchaYes, I had that issue. So, first I called my bank and what they told me is that Massdrop did a $1 charge to check to see if funds were in the account. (I did not approve of such a charge. I did not know there would be such a charge made by Massdrop). According to my bank, this is the same thing that "thieves" do to check to see if funds are in the account. That is a "Red Flag" according to my bank. So, for safety reasons, to those that have a credit or debit card, the bank not only puts a hold on the $1 charge, but, in this case also the $280.20 charge for the tent. Not only did I have to scramble to get this cleared with my bank, since Massdrop notified me about (the check not going through, so to speak) and I only had till midnight that day to clear it up, but also, the third party company that detects fraudulent acts by thieves trying to hack into ones account.
So, I had to contact my bank, then the company who detects fraud, then my bank again and then Massdrop (to let them know of my displeasure for charging $1 (which, according to the bank, is credited back in a few days) and that fact that Massdrop's policy for this makes it appear as they are trying to hack into my bank account.
It got cleared up in the end, but this has never happened to me before, and I've ordered plenty on line. My bank says there policy is 'safety first", which I appreciate. But it is a hassle. Not all banks have this policy so not everyone experiences a vendor declining someones purchase.
You need to contact Massdrop to get things cleared up, but first your bank. I got an email from Massdrop saying I would get the tent after the 27th, since they automatically run the card through again, and this time, it cleared.
I just hope I don't have to go through this hassle when I order more things, which I have, in the future.

EuroAmerThis is a standard practice in the USA. Many merchants do this and almost all gas stations. I have never heard about credit card issuers being alarmed by it. Apparently, overseas card issuers have different policies.

EuroAmerI've started processing my Massdrop purchases through PayPal because I had some fraudulent activity on my card after making some purchases directly through Massdrop. Seems they have some poor PPI practices.

RMC0109Are you sure that's what happened? It is much more likely you had the same issue that user incha and EuroAmer posted about 3 weeks ago.

fishbulbI can't be 100% sure that the card was compromised because of Massdrop, but it was not the same issue that incha and EuroAmer had. I had three transactions for very large amounts process that I did not authorize at a business in NY. I had to report it as fraud to my credit card issuer.
