Tony_mI recommend reading the info on this thread over on Head-fi. I've dropped impressions of the entire lineup. Hoping others pitch in with some more feedback soon. Might be helpful as-is though;

While the 5 is my personal favorite, I'd recommend going for the 3. Best bang for your buck. Smooth, detailed signature plus nice plastic/metal build. 1 is quite bright and very detailed. Not as refined as the rest of the lineup and it lacks depth to it's sound stage. Build is all plastic as well. It's good for the price, but the 3 is much better for not much more. If you're not picky about the finer details and just want something comfortable and clear sounding, the 1 should do the trick.

TheContraptionistThanks! That was good read. While I feel that some of it went over my head, I get the majority of the information being given. This is my first step up from the Skullcandy ear buds I've been buying. I was happy with those, so it sounds like either the series 1 or 3 would be sufficient for my needs.

Tony_mGlad most of it was helpful, haha. When I was in University I always had a pair of Skullcandy Smokin' Buds on me. Then I got my first real pair of good iems; JVC HA-FXT90. Haven't looked back. Since you're stepping up from Skullcandys anything in the Exclusive lineup should be a noticeable upgrade. I hope you like whichever one you settle on!

I almost got the kings last drop but wanted to research some more. let me know!

Both have similarly impressive imaging and positioning qualities with the King pulling it off within a larger soundstage. The 5's treble is just as clear and detailed, but not as prominent. It also has a bit more bass than the King. Real nice rumble to it :D. While I think the King is the better performing earphone (talking small margins here), I prefer the 5's less treble heavy, more natural and visceral presentation. Add to that a smaller, more ergonomic housing (still has lots of weight to it though) and I'm a happy camper. Can't go wrong with either of them though.

TheContraptionistHow would you rate the 3 vs the Series 5 (not exclusive)? I have a pair of Series 5 and I love them when they are properly driven. Unfortunately my iPhone just can’t power them.

CanyoufindbenWould love to tell ya but I haven't heard their original Series series of earphones, just the new stuff. I'm guessing the Series 3 would be a fair bit brighter based on what I've read about their original lineup, so someone else would have to confirm that. Sorry mate.

TheContraptionistI don't want anything treble heavy like the kings, Glad I haven't bought any other IEMs since the Exclusive 5.
They are a little treble heavy but I just got eqMac2 and it makes every headphone sound so much better.

If I'm not springing for the Kings at twice the initial drop cost, is there any reason to not just buy the series 1's?
