wilflare You do realize you're comparing a $400 MSRP triple armature headphone with a single dynamic driver headphone that retails for $92 ? Price isn't everything but that's a pretty drastic price swing. My GR07's sound great but they are no where near the capability of my TF10. Same thing with my CKR9 and IE800... love them both but they are not in the same league.

ElectronicVicesthanks for the response! (yes I am rather clueless about such things - the TF10 was a gift and they were my starter IEMs). guess I'll look out for a different set now then ^^

wilflareNot saying this wouldn't be a "change of pace" but if one is looking for a definitive "upgrade" it's going to be a bit pricey. The TF10 is an audiophile staple, it's starting to show it's age but it is still a killer IEM compared to most. I've picked up a dozen or so IEM's with MSRP's from $20ish to $999 and the TF10 still holds it's own against all but my most expensive IEM's. The only one I can say that is definitively "better" than the TF10 is my Sennheiser IE800 but the Sony MDR-7550 and Hifiman RE-600 definitely play in the same league. After a certain point in audio purchases it really becomes more about personal preference than technical performance. My main reason to switch from the TF10 was for comfort/form factor and not so much sound quality. They are still my favorite hard rock/heavy metal IEM. If you have a budget and can name some things you do and don't like about the TF10 I might be able to steer you in the right direction.

ElectronicVicesI guess I'm just itching for an upgrade. I want something warm with a good wide soundstage that envelops you. And I guess I'm looking for better comfort. The TF10s fit fine (I use Comply Tips) and the default cables were a mess to deal with but changing to custom cables helped quite a bit

wilflareI think the Sony MDR-7550 fit that bill pretty well but the soundstage on the TF10 is pretty awesome for an IEM. Best price I've seen is right at $200, typically sell in the $230 to $285 range. They are essentially the same headphone as the 800ST but rebranded 7550 for the U.S. market. They don't isolate like the TF10 and they use a giant dynamic driver instead of three BA drivers so they should be a nice change of pace. I haven't yet heard a BA earphone that can provide the bass impact of a dynamic. Comparing the frequency response curves of two headphones has the most benefit when you get them from the same source: https://www.innerfidelity.com/images/SonyMDR7550.pdf https://www.innerfidelity.com/images/UETF10.pdf
