Just an FYI. Most may be aware of the growler laws in thier state, but there are a very few states that will not allow refilling if not at the original site of purchase. Other states have some other restrictions. The BA has a db on all states. https://www.brewersassociation.org/government-affairs/laws/growler-laws/
And Grolwerwerks made a nifty map of it. https://www.growlerwerks.com/blogs/news/17472728-growler-laws-state-by-state
I know because I live in Illinois and can get turned away. Hasn't happened but I have my usual places to refill.

ChicagoWayI mean, I would only fill a growler or similar at an actual brewery in the first place. Not sure what retailers out there would even bother.

CyphreA retailer can be classified as a bar or taproom. I used to live close to Revolution's second brewery and would also eat at Goose Island's original pub. One of my favorite places to fill my growler was DESTIHL's pub when I lived in Urbana. Now I live in Peoria where the closest taproom has no brewery. Not everyone is similarly situated as you (nor I at one time). https://www.guysdrinkingbeer.com/growler-buyers-pledge/
And that's just illinois other states are worse.
