LIFX just dropped the price of their color 1000 to $39.99 on lifx.com
can someone tell me the price of this drop? for future reference :)
socks
They were $24.99 each. Shipping for me was $13.75, but I ordered 10...they are pretty heavy and they came in 1 box. I'd be surprised if they offer this particular model again though. This was discontinued and replaced by the Color 1000 model. How many more of these can they possibly have in their inventory?
Kicking myself for not getting more than one. This thing is amazing.

If you could make the next drop available for Europe I would be really thankful. Probably a lot of other people as well.
I'm glad I just squeezed by on this drop. Saw it last night and decided to grab 5. Would love to get the opportunity to get the ones for recessed lighting too.
This is ridiculous! Why have it say 9 days remaining and then end the drop without any updates?

Hi Jon, do you know if the next drop could be open internationally, or if LIFX cannot export the bulbs out of the US for the time being ?
Lem4itre
We are currently already available internationally. This drop was confined to US only for ease of logistics with our fulfillment center in the US. I'll be in contact with massdrop to discuss future drops to work out what international would look like. Stay tuned for more.
Masdrop should really do a better job communicating limited quantities for drops on the description page. Both for people to have a chance to order it, and for those who have ordered it, to have a general idea of when the charge will go through.

Jon from LIFX here, sorry about any confusion on this, I'll work with Massdrop to ensure a more refined process on our next drop, we were thrilled with the community response :)
Why'd this end 9 days early? Was it unit limited?
rphillipps16
yea wut???
I've had a couple of these since the Kickstarter campaign. I have also purchased 7 more of these after the Kickstarter. 2 being the color 1000. I ran into an issue with one in the past and LIFX customer service replaced it at no charge to me under warranty As everyone else has mentioned the size is larger on these than the color 1000. These will have a more difficult time fitting in smaller light fixtures so just be aware of the dimensions and your lamp or fixture. I'm definitely in at this drop price!
Is this for only one bulb?

ye
Guys, please make international shipping available !!! This bulb is already 240v compatible.
Yet again, no international shipping!! Why? Haven't figured out how to pack things properly so they don't break in transit?
USA only?
John and Lisa bevere books
So how many do you get per purchase?
Folio
Well, one, unless you increase the quantity on the purchase page.
No international shipping? :(
I have 14 of these in my house and 4 of the new model.
These don't have the same resolution of color adjustment as the new model. The new ones you can see the difference between say 30 degrees and 35 degrees on the color wheel. These ones less so.
These are great bulbs. I'm going to purchase several even though I prefer the new model.
I have three of these and love it. I'm hard of hearing and don't always hear the phone ring. I have the lights set up to flash when our phone system rings - red for unknown callers, green for callers in our contact list. Works perfectly!
When will Australia be one of the locations for shipping? And will they come with other connectors instead of just screw in? Love & Shared :)
KarenM1
Shoot me an email at jon.ivanco@lifx.co and I'll connect you with our australian team and see what the plans are.
I have one of these. These don't need any hub like the Philips Hue, which is nice. Has all the colors you'd want, and a couple of cool effects/modes. They all connect to wifi, and then your phone can control each one from the app. AMA if you want

I use the lifx app, so with these WiFi bulbs I'm fairly sure the lifx cloud service is needed for most things. I believe third party developers can hook into the api and write software for lan control, but I haven't tried anything of that sort yet.
SomeTechNoob
You can easily program this with IFTTT, these are by no means limited to the LIFX app !
Will there be an international drop?
No international options?
Overall would you recommend this over the Lifx 1000?
Will there be another drop available internationally ? I've got the 1000 and from what I heard they're very similar but getting one in europe is impossible under 70/80 bucks, so having a drop available with either the old or the new would be awesome !
Hello All,
This bulb is the original Lifx bulb that is the predecessor to the Color 1000 and functions the same but is a little bit taller.
Jaysun
So the bulbs being sold here are the old ones that they don't make anymore?
AbstractMadness
@AbstractMadness
The bulbs being sold here are not made in the taller size anymore and these draw ~17watts instead of ~11watts.
From what I know it doesn't come with a internet hub like how the philips led bulb have. Check all the way down of their website and they claim that they don't use any hub. http://www.lifx.com
How does these work? The video didn't explain. Do they connect to something via wifi that plugs into my router or do they all just emit their own signal?
AbstractMadness
These bulbs have built-in WiFi. They don't require a hub like the Philips Hue bulbs. The free LIFX app (Android / iPhone) detects the bulbs automatically then it allows you to have the bulbs join your home WiFi network. You provide your home WiFi credentials which are saved to the bulbs so that they automatically connect from that point forward. Once configured, the application allows you to control your lights from your cell phone (locally or remotely). I use my LIFX bulbs with Amazon Echo. This allows me to control my LIFX bulbs using commands to Alexa - "Alexa, turn kitchen lights on" or "Alexa, tell LIFX to change kitchen lights to red".
I did much research on color changing LED light bulbs. The Phillips HUE system is more expensive and requires a hub. Also, the Hue bulbs are only the equivalent of a 60 WATT light bulb. LIFX bulbs (both the original & 1000) are brighter (75 WATT equivalent) and require no additional hardware (hub).
This is an AMAZING price on these. I own both the original and 1000 LIFX bulbs and really don't see any difference other than a slight difference in size.
