This looks really nice, but it's hard to justify a pen case that costs more than most of my pens.

At $119 this is just $10 off from the website. I don't see great advantage on buying massdrops unless they are pieces that you cannot find elsewhere or where there is a real financial advantage. Of course, I have used massdropps- when they make sense,. I am waiting to see for how much this sells. Sorry, I had to make this comment but it is true. But at $109 it is going well!

:P Doesn't seem to be much of a point to discover new products if you're going to go elsewhere to get it. (but I Don't think it was originally meant to discover new products but primarily to gain discounts due to bulk-purchasing, in which case 20 off for increased marketing doesn't do much).

Everything is relative, but for me a price reduction of slightly more an 15% is significant. I personally can't justify it for myself at this moment, but if it drops later I might reconsider. Like @KarlBlessing I tend to have fat pens (Parker Doufold), so I am a bit on the fence.

Are these considered hard cases (ie: prevent bending or moderate amount of crushing), or are they simply put, thicker soft leather?

Ah, it should be noted in the drop. The price would be well worth if it can actually hold large pens.

Hey @KarlBlessing @Glassjaw003 and everyone else re: size -- I think this might be the best help:
