Is it any wonder that tops have entertained humanity for more than 5,500 years? Like watching a fire, spinning a top is both incredibly easy and surprisingly satisfying—even addictive. Only recently, however, have we been able to achieve 8-, 9-, and 10-minute spin times by creating precision-machined tops fitted with high-performance bearings. The Mk1, made by England-based Vorso, is one of these. Offered with a standard ceramic bearing or upgraded ruby, the Mk1 is now available in Copper and Stainless Steel, in addition to the original Brass. Also new for this drop, you can select Brass and Copper in a subtle Machine Finish or choose the Polished version of all three metals.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice between a Ceramic bearing or Ruby bearing (+ $24). You'll also have your choice of material from the following options: Brass Machine Finished, Brass Polished (+ $4), Stainless Steel Polished (+ $12), Copper Machine Finished (+ $18), or Copper Polished (+ $20). You can also add the Electron Spin Station (+ $79).

Each Mk1 consists of a metal body and a knurled spindle with an aluminum center. The ceramic bearing promises long spin times thanks to its silicon nitride makeup, which is harder and lighter than steel, thereby reducing skidding, vibration, and centrifugal force. Even harder, the ruby bearing scores a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale compared with ceramic’s 7. In addition to improving performance, this precious gemstone adds good looks to your top.
To achieve long spin times, it’s essential to have a smooth, pristine spinning surface. The Vorso Electron Spin Station is just that. With a precision-machined ring of aluminum that houses a nearly 3-inch piece of concave glass, it looks great on a coffee table, desktop, or work surface. Pair it with the Vorso Mk1 or any other top in your collection.
