I understand everyone's frustration, but keep in mind, that most artists do not make great business men... what I am saying, is that the folks at Vorso, have created a precision piece of art, that has to be crafted just so, and seemingly so, are very good at crafting the tops, that we so fiend over and for.... so we wait a bit, with luck we will still get them before Christmas. And I for one would prefer buying art from an artist rather then a business-man. Though a compensation/incentive might be nice.. even something along the lines of $5 off on the next drop we might decide to join in on (or a spin station lol). Just a thought, and my two cents.

blackdragonOh, you mean a "precision work of art" that they outsource the machining of? Tyler said in an earlier post that they were waiting on machined components. As far as precision goes, this is a lathe item and isn't terribly difficult to create with the same precision. Any machinist could do it.

blackdragonWhat I am saying, is that you can get more flies with honey.. and if they are inclined to help offset this lateness with any sort of compensation, they might be more inclined to do so for people that are not slandering them....
While they may have out-sourced the parts, They first designed and set the specifications for those parts, and once getting them back in shop from thier outsourcer'ers, they still need to assemble and finish the out-sourced pieces and check for imperfections, ajust, and polish in some instances.
Just a thought...
If someone takes a bite bigger then they can chew... you just need to wait for them to swallow. Or, as MassDrop has so graciously offered, we, if we can wait no longer, can simple cancel our orders.

rezin8I'm a machinist, and I could do it. But I still bought one of these, because the cost of CNC machine time and my time would be much more than the price I paid here. Go ask your local machinist to make you one and see.

cluffyThere's no doubt buying it is cheaper, but to call it a "precision work of art" when it's no more precise than anything your average machinist does on a daily basis is a bit of a stretch. Plus, it's a top... no need for a CNC. You can bang it out on a manual lathe in under an hour. The CNC would probably do it in 5 minutes.

blackdragonOk, precision is an ambiguous term, used to sell product, so I'll give you that. But to bang out a top so well balanced on a manual lathe would be a good solid hour, with polishing, the knurl, and a press fit or threads for the tip. CNC requires programming and set up time, probably 1/2 hour. Manufacturing a product is never as simple as it might seem. That's all I was trying to say.
