Not hating or anything, but what makes this board so expensive? I could go and buy a quality Pok3r / TKL keyboard for much less.

pr3castMostly the case and the caps:
The plate and case are aircraft-grade aluminum, with a silver bead-blasted texture. The WhiteFox comes stocked with thick PBT Cherry profile keycaps, with crisp dye-sublimated and centered legends designed by Matteo himself.
You won't get that with a standard line Pok3r/TKL.

pr3castBecause the board was custom tailored and designed by Matteo with the help of some other people. This is "his" dream keyboard come to life. Though not my dream keyboard other people must like this enough to be their dream keyboard. I find the 65% layout less than ideal for my setup.

pr3castIt was originally fairly priced, but they've upped the price for the third batch now that word of mouths gotten out. You could buy the best possible PBT keys, Zealios, and a hot swappable Zhuque for below the asking price of this. You could simply buy a Filco or Varmilo and keys and be done with it, it wouldn't even reach 200. But it's not this keyboard. You are now paying for the name and advertising.

ElixirWrong. You are paying for the layout, as well as the open hardware and firmware platform. This keyboard is smaller than the VA68M, which in turn is slightly smaller than the VA87. I'm currently using the Planck but after half a year of use I can honestly say I don't like it as a daily driver. I constantly use and need the home cluster as well as the function row, and the extensively layered format slows me down too much. I'll keep the Planck as my portable Dvorak solution and the Fox as a daily driver. I've been eyeing the VA68M but when I found out about this one it felt like the Planck and the Varmillo made a baby and this was it.
I have also heard the Whitefox is more expensive this time and that sucks, but they have a monopoly on this keyboard so if we want it badly enough we'll have to pay.

Mario.PaulYou can't assume that everyone likes this keyboard's keycaps and won't replace them with something else (note that The White Fox's keycaps are not unique, they can be bought elsewhere). You also can't assume that everyone is buying the keyboard to reprogram or update it.
The fact of the matter is that the original drop for this was $205 assembled, for literally the same thing. You might want to reconsider your options since they're entirely personal, circumstantial and the VA68M went back up on this site overnight.
To be clear, I am in for this third drop. I'm not going to try to justify my purchase.

ElixirWhy are you angry though? It's just a keyboard.

ElixirTo be fair, they can price this at whatever pricepoint they want. If they want to jack the price up each time, they can. It's a keyboard that caters to a niche chunk of an already niche market, so the pricepoint is going to be anything but standard. Besides, in ANY market, you will inevitably pay more for certain names or brands. That's just the way it works.
