Wow. Thanks for the reminder email that this drop was ending soon. I wouldn't want to miss out on that $3 savings and 2 month wait!
How in the world did 105 people buy this already?

CardamomteaSo they get to wait 3 months instead? Not sure I follow... Are you saying that massdrop.com is the only place that persons outside of the US can purchase this item at or very near this price and then pay big shipping?

AntneeI was referring to Plexus's comment earlier about how even with Campsaver's labor day coupon, it was still cheaper for Canadians to buy from Massdrop.
I live in the US and typically don't pay attention to gear prices in other countries. However, I've noticed that on Massdrop when an item is listed that, "isn't that great of a deal" for Americans, people living in other countries will often chime in saying how, for them, this is the best deal. Just what I've observed.
I do think this drop has terrible timing for the American market... if this were to land in the middle of summer or fall, it would probably look like a screaming deal... but not during labor day sale week....

DannyMilksI just double checked so I wasn't telling fibs. $384.94 is the RRP in $AUD at a respected franchise retailer here. Converts to $306 USD.
This is standard cost inflation for imported goods here. I'm not privy to all the reasons for the price increase but at least 1 extra person is added to the supply chain, the Australian distributor. And they would have to pay a lot of import duty and taxes on the import.
The brand also puts international sales bans on their product as to not hurt the sales of the international distributor.
For example if I go to Amazon or REI the website says 'sorry this product does not ship to your country'.
In my personal experience with imports I forgot we had a $1000 AUD limit on tax and duty free imports/online shopping. I bought a camera worth $1400 AUD. Had to pay like $470 in fees.

HubeyDoobyDooI should have kept my mouth closed. Now Massdrop is abiding by the same distributor region restrictions. No more shipping to Aus. 🙁
