Great pad. it is an insulated pad but I use it year round since it is only a few ounces more than an uninsulated version. If I lost my gear, I would buy this again again. People ask about inflation bags. Relax, it is not hard to blow up.

doug100People don't want a bag because they think its hard to blow up. The air from your lungs has tons of moisture which leads to mold and bacterial yuck in the pad, which destroys the insulation.

VajtagalI can't imagine using my breath to inflate a bag anymore, yuck! I use the bag that came with my Xtherm, so much faster & easier!

VajtagalThis pad is coated on the inside and condensation from breath won't affect it.

casperinmdI researched I found nothing confirming this. Doesn't mean it isn't true, but Thermarests own site doesn't list it as a benefit . I did a TON of research when getting my pad, didn't ever see It being coated stated, or have an REI person say it was. Or any other stores employee. It would mean every little bit of insulation would have to be coated or treated. And the condensation would still be in my pad. I'll stick to using a bag or pump to inflate.
