JanderThe click or the clack? The clack (made by your keys hitting the casing, or "bottoming out") will be greatly reduced. The click is just the key actuating, and very quiet. (Around the same as a rubber dome laptop keyboard)

HellreaverI see, well im new to this world (i still have my good ol' logitech g-whatever), i can only judge by the youtube videos, blue switches all sound really loud there... so whatever makes that go away is fine by me :)
JanderIf you need quiet when you type then Blue switches are probably not the best choice. The linear and tactile switches are much quieter, which are Red/black and Brown/clear respectively.
Are you looking for a full size keyboard or do you rarely use the numpad keys?

JanderIf we're talking about typing only, I would choose Cherry MX Brown over Blacks and Reds any day. I'm thinking about jumping on this though because the price is very attractive. If for gaming I would go with Blacks or Red. Even might consider clears too for typing.
HellreaverBlue switches are SUBSTANTIALLY louder than a rubber dome keyboard...Rubber domes are more or less silent. That said with o-Rings Blue switches will cut the clack as Hellreaver mentioned considerably but the click (which is the noise Blues make most are familiar with) will still be there in force. I'd recommend watching some YOutube videos of recorded sound of MX Blues with o-Rings and judge from there.

AlexPkMy wife works here as well, she 'needs' the numpad keys. Just like you said i was aiming for a black or brown ones, but then Hellreaver here told me about the rubber rings, sounds like it could work!

LiquidEvilGamingI have MX Blue's in my CM Storm Stealth keyboard, and installing the rubber o-rings made a big difference in its sound output. I happen to like the sound of the switch itself, but the sound of the caps bottoming out on the switches is annoying. Especially when I'm playing a game.
Honestly, If you can't take the noise, but still want the feedback while typing go with the MX Browns. They are pretty similar to the Blue switches, but you don't have to raise the key past the actuation point to click again. Gamer's prefer this because it allows for more rapid clicking. For me it makes no difference at all.

JanderYeah, the rubber rings make a big difference. They almost eliminate the sound of the key caps bottoming out on the switches. They don't, however, do anything to help the sound made by the switch itself.
benhaubeNot sure what you are trying to say? o-Rings only kill the clack not the click (Which you seem to realize which is what i was pointing out to Heallreaver in reply) however the click on blues is still substantially louder than Browns/Clears/Rubberdomes/Matias Quiets and something to be of note to someone asking about noise(Hellreaver was stating o-Ring blues were as quiet as a Rubberdome which is blatantly wrong). Personally i prefer and use clears but i was just responding to someone else who claimed "o-Rings would make blues near silent" which is the most false statement i have ever read here. It will however make them more tolerable for someone opposed to the noise level. Personally i am also not bothered by the noise but find blues to be too light (And when i tried Greens it DID bother the wife lol)
Cheers
