iliksThe M50x has a thinner lower-mids and a more quirky upper-treble, but is much better in terms of comfort and isolation. I have a full review of the On2 here. Also, the MSRP listed on the side-bar of Massdrop is pure bullshit, not even Thinksound sells these for $300 on their official website.

iliksThe On2 is a very comfy on-ear, but it's not as secure as some headphones, so if you move your head a lot (or suddenly) it can slide off. It sounds way different from the M50 series.

dalethornI'm looking for more clarity than the M50s, but my current setup with the Velour pads are just way too comfy.

iliksMore clarity I wouldn't expect with the On2 - it's a warmer more mellow sound. The M50 has one of the best bass responses in a headphone, staying really strong into the deep bass. Better than the On2. The M50 treble is stronger and more detailed, but it can also be a little bit rough on some music. And the M50 has some mids coloration. Those are really different headphones.

dalethornWhile I do agree that the treble is stronger on the M50x, it is in a place where it doesn't bother me. I am very sensitive to the area around 8KHz, and the On2 are awful there. They are too forward and piercing in that area, which is a deal breaker for me. I never had that problem with the M50x. The M50x just had more sparkle for me, which was totally enjoyable, but the peak at 8K was lower in the M50x. Of course, that's my personal experience. My On2 are collecting dust now because of that peak. I hope that this will help other people that are sensitive to that area. And it's too bad, because the On2 are really, really interesting, just were it not for the treble part.

acolyte192I've had many headphones with recesses and peaks through the upper treble, more often at 9 khz than 8 khz, but some there also. Anyway, my sample of the On2 has no emphasis at 8 khz, and I'm very sensitive to those upper treble emphases. So I'd guess you got a bad sample, or even a fake. BTW, my On1 was nearly identical to my On2. My 135 or so EQ curves are on my dalethorn website.

iliksI have the thinksound on1, and the m50x. First of all, the m50x? I can't listen to it more than an hour and a half. I start hating music. It jsut messes with me. "fatigue" - something I was never aware existed untill Istarted getting better headphones. Now, the type of music I liek is EDM, and I must say, the thinksound gives a much funner sound for me than the m50x. Be advised tho, I might be loony - as I prefer the thinksound on1 even to the akg712 I have. *shrugs*.

acolyte192Why not use EQ? Seems strange to not adjust that part that bothers you. Really easy fix.

iliksThe m50x were the first headphones I've got, and I gotta say, they sounded amazing to me, untill I got the thinksound. But... I always had the problem with m50x, the fatigue. I think not everybody might experience the fatigue that some headphones often bring.

AlonPPad swapping can really help. There are a few pads that fit the 50x and change the sound signature.

AlonPBrainwaves HM5 pads. Amazon sells them. Huge upgrade over the stock. Super comfortable and it changes the sound. Read the reviews and you'll get a good idea of them. Very popular pad for the 50X.

AlonPMy experience with the M50x is exaggerated boomy bass, recessed mids and overly bright treble. But that's just me.
