Are these union made? My understanding is that Thorogood boots are made by UFCW members. Is that true for this pair, or is it like Red Wing where a smaller and smaller selection of their boots are built by union labor. I don't see it noted in this description anywhere.
ReggieMSupporting union labor is good? It can also be a benchmark of quality (nonunion shops are more susceptible to speedups by the boss that would crank out more product with less quality), with the advantage of knowing that being made union probably means they're made in the USA or other countries with comparatively not-horrendous labor laws. Red Wing making boots nonunion means that they're making them wherever labor is cheapest and importing them, like China (which has nonfunctional state sponsored unions and bad bad bad labor regulations) or Indonesia (where workers are not getting paid their worth and their safety is not a priority).
mynameismynameYes, their U.S. made boots are all union made right there in Merrill WI! I have 4 pairs of Thorogoods, 2 pairs of roofers (discontinued), Omni steel toe black, and my favorite, the 1892 Portage in black. You cannot find a pair of boots with Horween Chromexcel leather as affordable as you will on Massdrop!
