I have this bag and love it. It is big and heavy as far as messenger style goes, but I appreciate that for its extra protection when I am carrying my laptop and accessories around.

I have one of these, don't use it much now, find it very heavy for a bag, really noticed it while travelling! I'm all for quality, but this thing is weighty. Just too big for me I guess.
Timbuk2 Lifetime Warranty can be seen here: http://www.timbuk2.com/content/lifetime-warranty.html over 25 years in the business, they know what they're doing :)

Anyone know how this compares to a Chrome bag? I have this one: http://www.chromeindustries.com/us/en/bags/messenger-bags/citizen-messenger-bag
and am not sure whether its worth getting this one just for the laptop pocket.

LunaRoseChrome's construction is higher by a pretty substantial margin. Timbuk2 has started outsourcing their labor to Asia and they've also been reducing the quality of components slowly over the last few years - all of the parts that look metal are just plastic with metallic paint. The laptop pocket really doesn't add much, just keeps it upright.

LunaRoseI have the chrome citizen night, they are different bags in a few regards. The timbuk2 is a general style messenger - lots of pockets, sits sideways on your back, padded laptop pocket, a great general use bag. I use the timbuk2 as a general work bag/travel bag.
The chrome is a simpler bag in most regards. Less internal pockets, sits at an angle on your back, has a sternum strap so it won't slide around as you ride, constructed more durably, no internal padding or laptop pocket. I use the chrome when ride my motorcycle.
*the cross body strap on the timbuk2 is ok... but never feels as stable or movement-free as the Chrome.

How is this on a bike? I have found messenger bags to slide down to my knees.

I've had this bag for the past couple years... great bag. I haven't had any issues with the shoulder strap, though the buckle connections to the reflective material have tore a tiny bit (though not close to failure). It's a solid bag, easy recommend.

I've been using this bag since high school and it is great. It was strong enough to tank through all of my stupid adventures and still is (I'm currently in college and still using it). The shoulder pad is absolute trash as it broke very quickly. It was uncomfortable anyways. I just grabbed a new shoulder pad from one of my older bags. I now use burro bags as well but when it comes to school and work I choose this all the way. The hook anchors (the reflective material) also slowly tore over time, but they have not failed me over the 4 years I've had the bag.

Is this the 2015 edition? The photos look like an older model.
MrNovemberThe slightly older model so it doesn't have the Napoleon pocket or zipper silencers.
