I've heard a bunch of IEMs in this price range, from KZ to TRN. The Tin T2s are still my favorite. OK, I do prefer the new T2 Pro, BUT I think some people might prefer the originals. Here's why:
The T2 Pro has more treble, and with silicone tips I think it's overly sibilant. The sibilance is solved with foam tips, but if you don't like foam tips (they need replacing more often), I think the T2 Pro is not a good option. I also think the silicone tips give a better seal and so the original T2s feel bassier than my T2 Pro. Not a big difference in the bass, but noticeable.

Also, I think the T2's "lack of bass" is pretty overstated. The bass isn't as emphasized as on similar headphones in this price (KZ, TRN, Final), BUT it's still pretty solid bass. Headphones like Grado SR80, AKG K1000, and even Sennheiser HD600s are legit light on bass. The T2 has more bass than all of them. They're just not bass cannons like some other cheap IEMs.

mrsalleeGood day sir. Just wondering what your take on the sub $50 category of IEM and or earbuds is. I'm in the market for a new pair, won't be my daily drivers, kinda my beaters I guess. Am currently looking at KZ because of their low price. Any recommendations? Are these worth the price? I should mention that I will be driving them with a Dragonfly Black as well, my Reds are reserved for the good stuff *snicker*

GregfrasSub $50, my favorites are probably T2 (original), Final E2000, or Zero Carbo Tenore. T2 Pro is my favorite at any price I've tried so far, but IMO requires adding Comply foam tips, which increase the price.

mrsalleeThanks for taking the time to reply. I was considering the Final Audio e2k e3k as well. But considering these are my beaters, do you think I should go lower in price and consider any KZ iems? Or pay more to get more? My problem is deciding on which of the KZ options to choose. Any recommendations there?

mrsalleeGlad I found you on here. I had previously watched both of your TinAudio T2 and the Pro reviews. Very helpful.
I personally like the comfort of foam and have been getting better isolation with comply foam than with silicone, but that's just my ears. So I guess I wouldn't be worried about treble sibilance. Your Pro review discusses the sparkle of the treble, which is what they were apparently trying to add. Does this diminish the balanced sound signature so widely respected in the original T2s? I guess I'm wondering if it's treble heavy (does it emphasize treble) or does it just incorporate treble sound that most in-ears miss? Also, have you tried the mod by covering the vent hole with tape to see if this boosts bass on the Pros with Comply tips? I had heard good things about that mod on the original T2, but not many people got the Pros on early release to test this. I'm just wondering if this would further balance out any treble emphasis and bring back some of the bass lost from the foam tips.

GregfrasI dunno, some of these are pretty personal questions I don't think I can help you with. I think a $40 Tin T2 is a pretty good choice -- it would be mine.

jdownIt still feels like a pretty lean, neutral sound to me (whatever neutral is), but definitely more treble-forward -- IMO, it really opens up the sound, it's airy, detailed, gives a bigger stage, more separation, and more bite. I've heard a lot of IEMs in the last few months, and the T2 Pro is the first that I actually like better than my regular headphones.

mrsalleeThat's helpful. Bigger stage with more separation is what I'm looking for as I want something that can double as live monitors for music sets. Thanks.
