I don't want to spoil anyone buying decision, but for the same price $200 , I just bought this Xiaomi 100% Aluminum-magnesium alloy carried on luggage. It is designed in Germany, and seem well made. Here is the link https://www.gearbest.com/luggage-travel-bags/pp_1001667.html. I think Aluminium is stronger and more durable than Polycarbonate. The colour is also exactly the same as my Mac Book Pro :-)

Rob_GAmazon Basics are made from ABS and are VERY heavy. The carryon weighs 10LBS
This Luggage is a made from Polycarbonate which is stronger and lighter with the carryon weighing 5.3lbs !!!!

FYI the carry on is probably not compliant with most US domestic airlines (22x14x9). I would like to see a drop for Briggs and Riley luggages which carry a lifetime warranty.

If I recall, the Transcend line comes in dark red and Sympatico has both red and blue variants.

tosh008Another way of solving this problem is to buy cheap, sturdy looking stuff at Walmart, check the wheels before every trip, and replace it when it looks to be falling apart. That's what I do. Cheap luggage is less of a thief magnet. If you buy the deep discounted slow seller colors (lime and fuscia paisley), and you ever do have to check your bags, they are easy to spot on the luggage conveyer. You don't have to contact anyone about repairs, and there's no shipping to a repair facility. You can chuck it out and replace it in your home city or the city you traveled to, as long as there is a Walmart equivalent store.
I started thinking this way after reading Ray Jardine'e Beyond Backpacking, the origional ultralight backpacking book. He recommended disposible cheap running shoes instead of expensive, heavy, stiff hiking boots. "But what about support? Ice? Wet? Insulation?" Well, it turns out that it works just fine. You can overthink these things. As the computer programmers say, "Try it and see."
I started buying cheaper shirts with fixed sleeve lengths when I realized I always keep my sleeves rolled up, so who's gonna know my arms are too short for the shirt?
I allow myself to spend money on quality stuff in a few narrow hobby areas (even though I know I don't need the quality), but otherwise I try to enforce a cheap-and-disposible policy.

I've owned two Titan suitcases. The first one didn't survive ONE transcontinental flight before BOTH handles came off and I had to carry the suitcase around like a gigant... egg. Never seen such terrible craftmanship before. The second suitcase survived the first roudtrip, but somehow got a huge dent on the SECOND trip. I didn't dare to travel back home with a suitcase in that state and had to buy a new one and discard it at the hotel. I replaced my Titans with suitcases costing 1/4 of the price and they are holding up well.

Hi Luobo,
There was a quality control problem with the OLD Titan products which drove the company into receivership and filed, Chapter 11, they are currently under new ownership since 2011 run by the owners of the largest German luggage company Travelite. The new products are way superior. I have owned one for 2 years now and taken it on multiple trips and it still runs like new.
bromA warranty would possibly bring people back. No strong warranty would keep people like me away. Samsonite has a 10 year warranty. Surely if you market it as made in Germany you can offer a great warranty.
