I read what waltpacker and raptelan had to say and did some research of my own. I'd have to agree with raptelan on this one. People are getting hung up on how aluminum is cheaper and easy to make but the whole point of titanium really is the combination of durability with it being lightweight. No need for name calling.
Also, a bigger point I feel people are missing it that it's not easy to make a capillary alcohol stove, which Hiram suggests it is. It's doable, but how much is your time worth? Look up tetkoba's youtube page. It is not a simple alcohol "cup" stove. Capillary stoves light up very quickly, as seen in hiram's youtube channel, and are cool to the touch even while it's burning(see the video below). I don't know how similar Toak's stove is similar to Tetkoba's but if it's anything like Tetkoba's capillary hoop stoves, then I think the price is fair.
Furthermore, I wouldn't rest my stove on just the can even if I could. That's just asking for it to tip over and spilling hot water and possibly alcohol all over the ground. Be safe.

BengkGreat info, thanks! I'd like to get some confirmation of this stove type. Love that long tall flame on a small bottom pot - as opposed to most alchy stoves where the jets send the flame out and around a narrow pot.

BengkFirst, titanium does have a great strength/weight ratio, but make a few different soda can stoves and then try to crush them. They're not nearly as fragile as the original soda can, and the thin titanium walls of the Toaks siphon won't be that much more sturdy. If stepped on, which is the most likely way you'd apply enough force to crush the stove, a titanium stove like this Toaks model would also deform.
Second, you wouldn't rest a full-size pot from your kitchen on a soda can stove, but the small titanium pots/cups that UL backpackers use fit very well and wouldn't be prone to tip. If you're worried about it, it's not hard to make (or scavenge) a simple pot stand. The one in this kit is literally just a section of chicken wire. Also, many light-weight wood-burning stoves are designed to function as pot stands for alcohol burners. (Eg, the Firebox Nano or Emberlit.)

SitwonYou guys, Sitwon and waltpacker, are funny. You're getting all hung up on the chicken wire and flashing, when I really don't think that adds a lot to the bottom line. For me, I appreciate that its sold as a set, but I definitely would understand someone wanting to buy just the stove, which does appear to be more than just a cup, you idiot.
p.s. with all your experience, you're still using a stove with over a 10min boil time?

scopeI use a side jet soda can stove I made at work with just an empty can, a phone book, a razor blade, and a pushpin in about 15 minutes. Uses .6 oz methanol to do 2 cups in about 5:30. A catfood can with holes takes about 6:00 and uses about .75oz, and all you need is a hole punch. This one does it 6:54. The can ones don't need a stand. Just the can and some fuel. If you're looking at 10 minute times, you're comparing a quart (4 cup) boil to a 2 cup boil.

scopeAs I said, it's a lot of money to pay for "just a stove", and even as a set it doesn't really hold up. I feel I've been specific in my criticisms and reasoning. If you think I've been unclear about anything, or that I am missing something in my analysis then please let me know. If you're looking for a kit, I've already pointed out a kit which I feel, based on my experience, is a superior product and value.
I never claimed that it was "just a cup", nor I have resorted to name-calling in this discussion. I acknowledged that it was jet-stove, but as I've pointed out jet stoves are neither rare, nor difficult to make.
And yes, with all my experience I do still choose to use a stove with over a 10min boil time. As waltpacker has already pointed out, boil time is function of the volume of water you're boiling. That's a fact of thermodynamics that no stove I've seen can overcome.
Controlling for volume, there are still very wide differences in boil time and fuel efficiency among alcohol stoves, however it's pretty well established that even the most efficient alcohol stoves are going to have a hard time competing with canister stoves. It's the nature of the fuel. Of course, as I've seen some other stove-enthusiasts put it: "If you're in a hurry, why are you walking?"
I like alcohol stoves, even if they're not the fastest stoves you can buy. But I don't think _this_ alcohol stove is a good buy.
At the end of the day, it's your money. If buying this makes you feel good, don't let my opinion sour that for you. Really, it's a good thing that you buy ANY stove (whether it's this one or the Trangia or a JetBoil) and get out on the trails. I just think that you deserve to be informed before you make your purchase decision.

I wanted this kit for the same reason. I was happy about the windscreen and pot stand because I may want to simply bring the alcohol stove and wind screen vs. the woodgas in some cases. There's no arguing that firing up an alcohol stove is quicker than rounding up, preparing, and lighting wood for a woodgas stove, so i may choose to bring it along with a limited amount of fuel for situations where i don't feel like going through the time consumptive yet meditative process of small fire building in the woodgas (breakfast/coffee/tea). I've made plenty of DIY alcohol stoves varying in complexity and weight from 6g up to 25g, but I want this to have a solid, reliable piece of gear to bring along when i don't feel like fiddling with or babysitting those other stoves. I'm quite a fan of this style burner as compared to stoves like my double-wall side burner, hole punched cat food can, or fancy feast with pot stand.

Hey Everyone - thanks for the comments and bringing this conversation back from the edge. I've added an option at check-out for just the stove and pot stand for a lower price. So now there are essentially three all-titanium bundle options: Stove and Pot Stand Stove, Pot Stand and Windscreen Stove, Pot Stand, Windscreen and 650ml Pot
